SteemPoll by @good-karma [Developer Spotlight]steemCreated with Sketch.

One of the things that makes Steemit so great is the sheer number of brilliant minds using the platform. But one consequence of that is frequent, vigorous, and sophisticated debate. In many cases all sides make valid and well reasoned points. That's just one of the reasons I was so excited to see that @good-karma had developed a polling dApp built on Steem that also features an innovative steemit-based option. We now have an objective method for gauging consensus within the platform.

The App

There are two ways of answering the polls, the first is a standalone application located at http://steempoll.esteem.ws/. The interface is straightforward and intuitive. It currently features three polls, the most important of which I believe to be the question about SBD: What token would you prefer using daily?

Answering via Steemit

@good-karma also allows you to answer the polls through Steemit, but he devised a novel (at least as far as I am aware) approach to registering your vote. Instead of having to answer in the comments, you vote using the weight of your vote. For example, if you want to vote for SBD in the aforementioned poll you simply vote with any weight between 1% and 33%. The beauty of this is that it leaves the comments free to be used for their intended purpose: commenting!

Conclusion

While I think that SteemPoll has tremendous potential within Steemit, I also believe it to be a dApp that could have utility beyond the boundaries of Steemit and thus act as a digital evangelist for both Steemit and the STEEM protocol. If I had a Developer-Of-The-Week Badge, I would definitely award it to @good-karma ... though I suppose I would be better off creating a poll for that!

Sort:

Having a poll for the steemit community is definitely something I find very useful.
