I think there is potential there for Facebook to attempt and buy Steem, where I think the owners will decline... in a year or 2... it could be that Facebook attempts a clone. Much like how most social networks clone elements of newer ones that impinge on their dominance. Think of Instagram and Vine for example, as soon as Instagram adopted the video aspect of Vine it pretty spelled the end of Vine. But with Steem, I think it's very different as to whether FB adopting a crypto currency will stop Steem. It's 2 different scenarios in that regard but not in the fact that FB will try and either acquire Steem or clone it/buy future competitor. All and all it's going to be fascinating to watch.
that will be a big move to decentralize, only time will tell
