Restaurant Eight Eight Ambalangoda
On Friday evening, we suddenly had to visit my parents to support them with an urgent matter. On the way, it was already evening, so we thought of stopping somewhere to grab dinner.
Thinking of restaurants, Harith proposed visiting Eight Eight Restaurant, which we had seen plenty of posts about on Facebook recently.
Since we hadn't visited the place before, we first checked Google for its location and reviews. It had a 3.5-star rating, and by the end of the visit, we could decide whether it was reasonable or not.
The restaurant was located along the coastal road among many other restaurants. It actually belongs to a motel, so from one side, we could see the hotel complex and the restaurant on the other side.
The restaurant is an open-air place with an outdoor seating area as well. When we were there, a family gathering was also taking place, so the place was a bit crowded.
We ordered spaghetti carbonara and cheese kottu. They took a reasonable amount of time to serve the two dishes. The spaghetti carbonara portion was quite small and honestly didn’t have the best flavor.
However, compared to that, the cheese kottu was very good and creamy. The place wasn’t that calm due to the nearby noises, but we still enjoyed our meal in peace.
I would say the 3.5-star rating is quite fair, as everything was average overall.
