Theoretically it should. It is designed to stay within 10% of 1 USD worth of Steem. You'll notice your post rewards are being paid mostly in SBD now that it is above the 1 USD peg.
This is one of the tools our witnesses have to help maintain that peg. But, there is still a very limited supply so if there is more demand than supply the price rises...
