RE: STEEM-POCALYPSE SEASON 5 RECAP - NEW GAMEPLAY AGENDA - AND SEASON 6 SIGN UP!

in #steem-pocalypse7 years ago

No, I have never tried it but I'm intrigued by the idea. I have even watched one youtube-series about it from geek and sundry channel. And I have noticed the increase of such activities around the world, if you're speaking of that and that's cool to see. People need to be more open minded and have fun.

Sort:

I meant text based roleplaying.

It's a huge thing.

And honestly, you could even consider tabletop RPGs like D&D as Choose Your Own Adventure Text Games because a great many players actually put an extensive amount of effort into their characters and the Dungeon Masters put a ton of effort into the game and its options as well.

So really, it hasn't gone anywhere. It's bigger than ever. It just wears a couple different masks.

True, papa-pepper should aim to simulate D&D experience. Adding dice and stuff. And as it grows, some visual representation of scenes and characters.

I think that's completely over the top for how big this game gets.

I also think the game would lose its simple charm. Other people contributing to the experience seems to be a fantastic way to go about it, and there are visual representations of scenes and characters. They may not be elaborate, but they're there.

That might be. I haven't seen how the game actually plays out. I'll check out the next season.

Why make such big suggestions to "improve" it if you haven't even seen how the game plays out?

There's plenty of game history to go through. Just go back in @papa-pepper's blog posts.

It's something I would expect to see from a game fleshed out if the game would get very big with a lot of users. Simple as that. I'm sure if this becomes a thing, many artists would love to join and help.

"And as it grows, some visual representation of scenes and characters."Just to repeat. I'm talking of Steemit being mainstream and this adventure being played by thousands if not even tens of thousands. It's all just dreaming of what could be, roleplaying of sort.

How about we stay in the here and now where the game is very busy but possible to be run by humans?

That many playing the game would be impossible, because no bot will be reliable enough to take care of it.

Not unless each game post lasted for a week or more. And really, I don't think many people would enjoy that much at all. It would draw it out too much. And you'd still need humans to run the game and make sure all the data was collected correctly. (And if you're gonna have to do that, there's no point wasting time and effort with a bot in the first place.)

Yes, it would had to be run more like a company, but who knows maybe it can slowly grow to that. And not sure if those would really be an issue. Bots not reliable? Posts having to last for a week? I'm not forcing anyone to get out of the place called here and now. I'm not forcing you to even answer me.

But good talk, I'll keep eye on this. Are you part of the team behind this?

And I doubt the trend will be changing, nerd culture is becoming mainstream with increasing rate and I've heard of even prisoners playing D&D campaigns to kill time.
