SLC27/W5 | YouTube Analytics & Consistency Strategy by @bossj23
Channel analysis is quite not easy to maintain a standard but very possible with consistency. Ask yourself, what measure of growth do you wish your account can attain in a period of one month? You're the one to set your target. You can start low but hitting simple views target before moving to subscribers function. Let's see what I learnt from channel analysis using the screenshots below.
Task 1 — Channel Analysis |
|---|
Start by logging into YouTube Studio, then go to Analytics and study the data. Pay attention to the Views, Watch Time, and Audience sections. Take a screenshot of the channel Analytics display as proof of the task. Write down three things you learned from the data.
It's only in YouTube Studioyou can access the main analysis of your channel. In this analysis, you get to be informed of the total number of views and impressions the account have had over the last 28 days. It's usually measured from what I saw and the views are always updated everyday, after 24 hours. If I have 8 views today, it would be updated tomorrow.
This is the channel's analysis display and after describing the data, I'll share 3 things I've learnt from it. My lessons are from what I practiced because experience is the best teacher.
- Views: This is the first thing you'll see in your Overview icon which is the first visible icon in the analytics section. This has a chart with a scale of 0-60, determining the range of views per day. If you are to track, you'll notice that you can see the days beneath and the rising chart pattern explains the increase or decrease in views on a particular day. My highest views was on 31st of November whilst November 1st actually had a drop of mo views.
These views gets updated after 24 hours. Check out the post I made today. I had 48 views in the post but the video is not shown in top posts if you're to scroll down. It's only showing in the real time section which explains which video is watched from time to time. Check out my views tomorrow. It will be updated from 129 to 200 as I currently have 61 views now. It has increased under 8 hours. This is to show you the power of short videos. So don't be scared that your views aren't adding. It will definitely add the next day.

- Watch time: Still on the overview section, we have watch time which is measured in hours. If a person gets to watch for videos for at least a minute, it is added to the watch time. I currently have 3.2 watch time which means all my viewers made this possible. Your watch time matters a lot because it reveals how unique and quality your videos are that can retain viewers to watch till the end. It also saw significant growth on the 31st of October.
- Subscribers: The chart shows I had an increased number of followers on the 31st of last month. It also shows I have 12 subscribers which is a boost to me that I should do better in terms of subscribers. My videos, title and tags should be on point. If you tap on it, you'll see the videos these followers were drawn to before the actually subscribed.

This is a huge lesson. My subscribers comes from the quality of my content, how engaging it is and how I make it of importance to them. If someone sees you have an important update, they'll want to follow you. So if I make my contents with linking questions on what they would see next, this would actually move them to check my next video. They'll subscribe and turn of notifications so they won't miss the update.
- Content: Under the content icon, we have a list of the videos we made and the impressions, average view duration and the likes for both videos and shorts specifically. This icon shows us how our viewers came about. Did they search for our contents? 45% saw mine randomly, 15% searched and the likes. It also shows the percentage of people who got to my content through a certain tag I used.
| Impressions | 500+ |
|---|---|
| Impressions click-through rate | 7.9% |
| Average view duration | 1.29% |

This shows the mediums I got my viewers and subscribers. Steemit got the highest percentage of people watching my videos. WhatsApp and WhatsApp business follows next.
- Audience: This talks more about my audience and one thing I discover from this is the angles my audience come from. From the analysis, I discovered that people that haven't subscribed to my channel tend to watch my videos more than people who have actually subscribed. This poses a serious lesson to me. How?
![]() | ![]() |
|---|
I need to hook my viewers with a content that would want them to anticipate in my next video. My first 20 seconds matter a lot because most people don't spend more than 30 seconds on a YouTube video especially if it doesn't have what they want to watch or hear. So I must capture my audience with my first 20 seconds. This would definitely increase my watch time and audience. They'll subscribe to my channel if I state something they would want to see in my next video.
Task 2 — Next Content Plan |
|---|
Write a brief plan (150–200 words) for your next three videos. Explain: The theme of each video, the goal or message you want to convey, and the improvements you will make based on this week's analysis results.
I'll be talking more about games this week for the 3 videos. My first video title would be;
| Earn Money just by Playing Games on your Phone | Title 1 |
|---|---|
| Goal | 1k and 10 subscribers at least |
This is the theme of the title I want to use and my thumbnail would be so catchy to attract all gamers and non-gamers who feel they can't benefits from playing games. The message I want to convey is that most people actually get lied to that playing games can pay them real money.
When they try it, they spend so much time before earning a cent. The video will show how real this can be by just playing games with their phone and a video on how I earned and withdrew would be shared. My goal is to create a short video of a minute plus and hit at least 1k viewers in the video with at least 10 subscribers drawn from my ending speech.
My second video would be a follow up of what I said in my last video. Most people that were waiting to get the link and tutorial on how to play for free would get to see this video. New viewers would want to check if I made a previous video on this. So my second title would be.
| Tutorials — How to play Hari Raid Game for free and Earn Real Money? | Title 2 |
|---|
I'll be targeting my watch time here instead of my views because I'll definitely know my views may not really be much compared to the first short video made as the tutorial would be at least 3 minutes or more.
The video would be about teaching newbies how to create an account on steemit and how they can use their password to play Hari Raid game for free. I'll leave a hook at the end of my video that they can share their gaming experience on the platform called Steemit and earn good money. They earn in two ways. How? They should watch my next video
My third video won't be about that hook. I'll keep them in suspense and hit them differently with another game other than the first as most people may not want to play the first one.
| Title | Play these 4 games for free and earn in dollars as a Nigerian |
|---|---|
| Goal | 5k views and 30 subscribers at least |
This is my third title and the video would be a short. Everyone wants to earn in dollars now. I'll make use of good tags that adds visibility to one's content. This video would show them other games they can play aside from Hari Raid. I'll then leave them with a hook as to a WhatsApp class they can learn privately. That's how I can draw them to myself and get their username and also mentor those who find it difficult to flow.
Task 3 — Inspiration from Successful YouTubers |
|---|
You must name 3 YouTubers you want to use as a guide and inspiration, then write what you will apply from their style to your own channel.
(Remember that these YouTubers already have monetized channels and are already big).
The YouTubers I selected are relevant to my content. This would help me know what they are doing to get people's attending pertaining to the niche of introducing an update which steemit is one of the updates I want to introduce.
| Financial Jennifer | YouTuber 1 |
|---|---|
| Subscribers | 200k + |
| Contents | Talking about finance, how one can earn money by making use of apps most people aren't aware of. She exposes us to apps that pays. |
This is the woman I want to imitate because she smells money and she always talk with confidence. In whatever video she makes, she shows herself to let her audience know she a real person. Most Nigerians find it difficult to trust an update when you it's just made with graphics and screen record. They want to see a picture of the person talking about this update. This is another thing that builds a person's trust.
If people in my contact see that it's @bossj23 that's talking about a particular update, they would be fast to believe because I have a level of trust. Another thing I learnt from her is that her graphics are very much appealing. Her banner speaks a lot. She shares both the free and paid financial updates. Her video quality is top-notch as well.
| Use of Title | ✅ |
|---|
Her title appeals to a set of people and is what most people research on. How to make money?
| OnlineHustleTV | YouTuber 2 |
|---|---|
| Subscribers | 500k + with millions of views |
Let's take a look at this particular video. His set-up makes every bit of his video interesting. His first 30 seconds already captured me. He made it engaging with an amusing tone. His introduction told us he would show us how to create an account and earn money with our phone. Any reasonable person would be motivated by the introduction and wait to watch till the end.
He specified 2025 in his title. This could be appealing as most people feel some updates have casted and they are looking for current ones. His thumbnail is perfect. In his descriptions, he shares how people can reach him, showing he's a real person. I can use this in my descriptions too.
| Journey with the Histon | YouTuber 3 |
|---|---|
| Subscribers | 1.2M + |
I actually learnt one thing which is her consistency in coming up with videos on updates people try herself to see if they actually pay so we'll not have to waste our time doing so. This would make a lot of people anticipate her videos because they want to see first-hand from her if it works or not. Her thumbnails are very engaging and catchy. So you know what made me subscribe? I subscribed because she said she tried what people said about making money by listening to music and that she wants to tell us if it will work or not.
These are a few subscribers I've learnt massively from and the time they posts matters. I observe they mostly post at night or early in the morning from 9-12pm Nigerian time.
I invite @whizzbro4eva, @fortwis09 and @deutron to join this contest
