Lesson 2: Why Do Posts Make So Much With Hardly Any Up-votes?

Hello and welcome to the Zonnovate page, where you will learn everything crypto-currency related. For today's lesson we will understand why some posts make so much money with so little interaction and likes...?

Read time: 3 minuets

First lets understand more about up-votes & how they work

This was definitely on my mind too when I first started out and saw numerous posts with only a few up-votes and over $100 in rewards? The reason why I thought this is because I was under the impression that every like is equal just like every other social media platform, but this isn't the case on Steemit let me explain...

Here on Steemit the more Steem Power you have the more valuable your vote becomes. So for example if you have under 100 SP your vote will be worth $0.01 whenever you like someones post and this will increase as you buy/make more SP. To check how much your vote is worth you can visit this website and enter your username at the top right.

Another thing to keep in mind is that every time you up-vote your overall voting power will decrease by 2%. Don't worry though because your vote power goes back up to 100% over time. In order to keep a good balance between your voting power decreasing(every time you up-vote) and increasing I recommend to do no more than 5-10 votes a day! But you can still comment and could possible receive up-votes from them if they are liked by others.

So why do some post receive so much money?!

Keeping in mind what we just learnt about how voting works and how users with a lot of Steem Power have a more valuable vote. There are users who have a lot of money invested in Steem Power thus making their votes worth a lot of dollars some even more than $1000! They offer a up-voting service where they receive payments in Steem or Steem Dollars to like other peoples posts that want a boost or some more rewards.

They usually automate this service by creating a "bot" that checks who has sent them payments and up-votes that person. There is a website where you can view all these bots to determined which ones are the most profitable called SteemBotTacker. If you are going to use a bot make sure to do your research before investing anything! Here are some very informative posts; How to find profitable bots & How to use bots guide.

Hopefully now you understand a little bit more about how Steemit works, and if you enjoy content like this make sure to follow and Up-vote . If you have any other questions about a steemit please let me know in the comment and I will either answer it or make a post addressing your issue.

The excellent post, has learned a lot of new about work of the platform.

Thank you and your welcome! I think the steemit platform is amazing and definitely has a long way to go too. Because it's kl to have bots but it makes things very unfair so maybe in the future they will be a thing of the past?

In this life everything can happen
