Pro-Palestinian student activism on US campuses, once vibrant and inclusive, is now met with fear and self-censorship due to increased government scrutiny and arrests of student activists. Non-citizen students, particularly, face the terrifying prospect of deportation for their past activism, leading many to withdraw from organizing and live in constant fear of arrest and visa revocation. This chilling effect has significantly diminished student participation in social justice movements and left many feeling abandoned by their universities. |
