RE: Flutter Development Journey: Health Issues and a Pivot in Service Direction

in Steem Dev2 years ago

However, this passionate learning and development journey adversely affected my health. Reducing sleep to immerse myself in learning and app development after returning home from work eventually led to health issues, forcing me to pause my endeavors. This experience taught me the importance of health management, and I am currently focusing on recovering my health through appropriate exercise and sufficient sleep.

I hear you! Coding can be obsessive, especially when learning something new. There's always another feature or a problem that needs solving. It's fun... until you realise it's 2am and you've got to be awake again in 4 hours time!

I suppose you also reach a point where you're setting expectations of yourself. Which just increases stress levels unnecessarily. Scrap the goals... the goal is to enjoy learning 😉

One thing that you could do is create an app that uses the underlying blockchain for data storage and "reward earning" - like the DrugWars or Appics or similar. Rather than trying to reproduce Steemit. Something like a prediction game... or something similar to Splinterlands on HIVE. My brain's too tired to think of any good ideas but have fun... always remember that it should be fun 🙂

I deeply resonate with what you've said. The process of learning new things in development is truly captivating, but sometimes it becomes the reason we neglect our health. While our passion may keep us up late into the night, it's crucial to remember the importance of managing stress and finding joy along the way. I fully agree that setting goals is good, but enjoying the journey itself is even more important.

The idea of using a blockchain-based data storage and reward system for an app is excellent. Approaching with a new concept rather than simply replicating existing platforms can be a great way to exercise creativity as a developer. Considering games like Splinterlands on HIVE, as suggested by you, seems like a good idea. Though thinking up ideas can sometimes be exhausting, finding fun in the development process is most important.

I hope your development journey remains enjoyable and healthy, and I wish you great success in your new projects!
