Our Series

Many people join #teammalaysia but they are lost because there are simply too many characters and personalities within #teammalaysia and as part of our effort to close the ranks and make this team more visible, we would wish to start with some individuals that we think are movers within their specific field. The people that deserve the acknowledgement for the work that they have done and the commitment that they have given to make the steem blockchain a better platform for all.

The artwork here is entirely @sireh's while the writing here is done by @perennial. Our first personality is someone who is no longer a stranger to us all. He is almost in every event and when he is around, his hand is always occupied with his trusty camera.

There is a common saying in Malay Language, 'tak kenal maka tak cinta'. It simply means that you will not love something that you do not know.

Getting to Know @orangila

When we first met @orangila in a Chinese New Year event, the first thing that crossed our mind was the moniker he gave to himself. Who would call themselves @orangila (which means insane guy) in Malay Language. But he is probably a marketing guy because that name whether you like it or you hate it, it sticks to the mind.

If one word describes him, I would say it is 'straight-shooter'. This is one guy who calls a spade a spade. This is why we love him. Unpretentious, simple, unassuming and straight to the point. He stays in the outskirts of the city in a distant town called Kajang and for each event, he would be driving all the way and sometimes it would be from the morning till night. So often enough when he does a coverage for us on Saturdays, he would have been too tired to last past 10 p.m.

The Many Faces of Chris (aka @orangila)

(Not many people know that @orangila is also a dog whisperer. He whispers to dogs and that is about it)

(When he is chilling, he floats in the pool while trying to catch a tan)

(When a pretty girl that is cooking but isn't looking, he sneaks up for a photo shot)

(Then there is the crazy pool party that Chris organises that involves babes and bikinis)

Well the captions are not true, but the following is:-

• Chris spent most of his adult life in Canada before moving back to Malaysia. He was introduced to Steemit by @maverickfoo and @bitrocker2020 when they promoted the bootcamp event to an E-Commerce platform administrated by @carolfung. His first event was at the Big Hug Burger gathering in January this year.

• His stint in steemit has been pleasant and positive thus far and with the babes and great food during meetups he is starting to feel more love for this platform. His only complain is that Steemit does have its occasional hiccups and hopefully that problem can be solved soon.

• His passion is in photography and he strives to live a happy life. Not many people I know would say that. Usually they will set financial or career goals as their benchmark of success. I guess Chris has a bit more wisdom than the common folks.

• The wackiest thing that Chris has done is to give up job security and a high paying job to go globetrotting. He has been to Hong Kong, New Zealand and Australia for almost 6 months.

• The reason Chris is in the blockchain is because he believes in transparency and decentralized system and that makes him a huge fan of the blockchain.

He thinks that both these cryptocurrency will be stronger than it is currently. It will be even more appealing in terms of its pricing in a the future.

Teammalaysia hasn't been the same after @orangila made his debut in its events. Without him, we would not have memories such as these to look back and go awwww....
