Steem-cartoon : Would you love to work on trains?

in #steem-cartoon6 years ago (edited)

Dedicated to those who are trapped in a cubicle, in an office, all year long.. *brofist

Sitting in a stagnant room, gazing hopelessly at the fragmented sky reflecting off the neighbouring office block, desperate for a scrap of inspiration. This unfortunately is the current situation we workers face on a daily basis. How we wish things can be better?

WHAT IF, Instead of we commute everyday to the office, the office come to us and send us back home?

WHAT IF, they came to us using just the clean energy, and treat our earth better?

WHAT IF, we have the 'real' views that dynamically changes from our cubicles instead of just looking at a computer screens?

05.jpg

WHAT IF, cafes and exhibition galleries moves from town to town and theres always something new in town everyday?

WHAT IF, these trains are more than just normal office? It could be a studio, a gym, a cafe, a library, a nursery, etc?

The Team

Me, Daniel, Ezzad and Cheryl. Yes we love working in trains :)

The idea was pitched by my team for an idea competition by the RSA (Royal Society of Arts) and got us shortlisted for the RSA Student Design Awards 'Creative Conditions' for challenging the conventional working spaces and came out with a solution of a better working concept for the future.

LOCOMO[THINK!] - The idea statement.

Conceptual photo montage, an artist impressions.

Research has proven that by distancing yourself mentally and physically from a problem you are able to think of more creative solutions, known as ‘psychological distance’. Monotonous, mundane environments suppress creative thinking. A moving view helps promote daydreaming and observation, two key behaviours which lead to a creative mind. By recycling redundant transport vehicles and refurbishing them into movable offices, workers are able to experience an ever changing environment whilst getting away from their normal location, thus offering a perfect opportunity for creative thinking.

Manchester mapping.jpg
Location mapping we tested into The Manchester Metrolink existing networks.

Using existing networks the premise of this can be applied to most modes of transport at a variety of different scales. From buses to trains, boats or planes, the vehicle can be chosen depending on demand and available networks. Our proposal focuses on the Manchester Metrolink system as an example of this scheme. This network is run on clean energy and links many different boroughs of Greater Manchester to the city centre, providing a very accessible and ideal case study. The moving offices travel between the different stations. People can book, rent, or even buy office spaces which can keep moving during the day or stop, open up, and make temporary home in specific locations. The transport vehicles can be refurbished to meet the specific needs of various different people. From conventional layouts to exhibitions, restaurants, and event spaces, together these offices begin to create a new working culture that will inspire and foster creative thinking.

Implementation of different typologies beyond normal office spaces, into functional spaces.

The interview and presentation session in the RSA HQ in London.

But well oh well luck wasnt in our side, we did'nt win the competition. :P However, to be the top 5 shortlisted to present to the RSA in London was really good enough. The presentation was great and everyone enjoyed the interviewed session and we've got amazing feedbacks from the judges on how the idea have its potential to become the game changer in the industry.

hehe thank you

kalau artist boleh ada studio macamni mungkin akan lebih berbisa artwork2 semua...:D

Di mana ada kemahuan, di situ ada railway! :)

I believe... if we constantly moving... see new things everyday... our brain stay active plus creative and we hardly grow old... haha... love the idea...

Yes definitely. Its a chance to get to know more new people too! :D

Great stuff. Tho the team didn't win, this somehow should be implemented and I'm sure it will in the near future.

Yes they should really do it right? even J K Rowlings wrote the first harry potter in a train from Manchester to London! :)

''J.K. Rowling first had the idea for Harry Potter while delayed on a train travelling from Manchester to London King’s Cross in 1990." - https://harrypotter.bloomsbury.com/uk/jk-rowling-biography/

mmg superb presentation ni

Thank you 🙏🏼 😁

kena buat sampai jadi ni, @kymio! 👏

Boleh implement kat MRT hehee

now THIS is a world changing idea! Regardless of winning or losing, its a fabulous idea and the artist rendition of the idea is really cool.
