The Diary Game: CONTINUATION OF CASTING OF DRAINAGE SUBBASE, 1st November, 2025
FROM MORNING TO EVENING ACTIVITIES
So today, being the 1st day in the month of November as well as the first Saturday of this month, it was always bound to be a day filled with much drama and excitement!!
So I got up from bed, not quite so eagerly though cuz If I had my way, I would have been home today due to how stressed I was. My body was literally begging me to stay back from work today, but I couldn't dare heed to that. A man's got to do what a man's got to do. So I reluctantly got off my bed, almost forgot to say my routine daily prayers as always almost do and then left for site.
Getting to site, we had to first of all get bags of cement as usual, gather some work tools such as shovel, head pans etc. I and my team members loaded these item unto the company's official cargo carrier and then we left for site. On getting back to site, we offloaded the vehicle that carried the cement and other tools, tried to pump water into our work tank and so on.
A few minutes later, work began. We're usually for in my team (Mason not included), but due to some unexplainable reasons, one of us refused to come.
So we immediately changed up, came up with a rule that says "if the concrete mixer is close to any material such as sand or even granite, the operator of the mixer was going to be in charge of loading the material into the machine and also get water as well.
This rule served us so well. Our job today was just a continuation of what we have been on; casting of drainage Subbase. So It wasn't a new task. So put the concrete mixer ON and then we commenced work for the mixer and then poured it in, loaded materials unto the mixer and after it is properly mixed, the operator empties the concrete into the drainage path to be evenly spread on the drainage surface. This process is called Blinding. It took us about 2.baskets as a team to our two 12cm baskets but eventually we succeeded. After working for over four hours, operator shut the machine down to allow us time too rest. After resting for a few hours, we resumed work.
But a few minutes into resumption, our mixer developed a fault. We called the engineer who came, checked in the machine and put it back on again.
At this time, it was almost 5pm. So we decided to work for a few more minutes, but before we could say Jack, it began to rain so we hurriedly gathered whatever materials or tools was left and loaded back into the company's van and taken back to store.
After this, we all had to clean ourselves, wash our work clothes and then left for home. So Ladies and gents, that's it for how my day went.
See y'all once again tomorrow for another episode!! Byeee....
