Another proposition to get older stories in the spotlight ....

in #steeemit8 years ago

So, it seems that after 24 hours, most stories wither and die. This may well be a great way to ensure original AND fresh content, but what if you want to get it out there again? How about the concept of a 'power bump' by which you pay a sliding scale of steel to get your story back within the new story timeline, say x steem for 1 hr, 4x for 6 hrs, 12x for 12 hrs and 24 x for 24 hrs. The economic trade off vs a gamble might be Interesting to view and it could plough some steem back into the pot

Thoughts?

My personal favorite is to link some older posts of mine in my newer posts. Since I have several series that I doing, this works well.

Many have trouble making any real money on this platform, so they would probably not opt for a "pay to play" 2nd chance option like you proposed.

However I'm very glad to see you brainstorming on potential ways to make Steemit better for everyone.

We will see what others think about this.

You're right. It does become pay to play and perhaps gamification of steemit wasn't intended when designed!! Thanks for the support.

You are welcome. It's not a bad option, and many might try it. However, I just think most would never consider it. Keep it up!

It seems as though @adamt was ahead of the curve. Steemit's new Promoted content section might just be the "Power Bump" that you've mentioned in your post.

That's what I thought, things are always happening so quickly around here.

You're absolutely right, things do happen rather quickly around here @papa-pepper. Is that a good or bad thing?

I've been writing serial fiction, so it gets revisited. I've not noticed a lot of upvotes from it, but I have had some comments

I've been doing a fiction series as well. Voting and payout fluctuates a lot, but overall it seems to be responded to well.

It wouldn't amount to much. Go look at the top promoted post today. It's got about $12 behind it. Why? Because everyone quickly realized it didn't hold much value. It was not a measure of quality, or even audience acceptance. Not to mention, at 30 days, your posts come up again in the time until payout category. And, you can promote them up until 30 days and if they get votes, you'll find them back in trending, or hot.

@albertfall just posted on what the new "Promote" button is for, and in essence, it's what we were discussing last night.

It must have been a better Idea than I initially thought.
We will see.

i think that is a totally brilliant idea I must say ! i like the tarif per hour thing too and the prices seem clear and frankly correct. I would like very much to repost a couple of my posts this would be a great solution !! Plus as you point out these rewards for the boost promo return a kick/back to the steem system. So actually a good service and a win win for the whole community. Plus it would allow posters not on whales lists to maybe get some more reaction than right now ! Steem On !!

Thanks - lets see what the next iteration brings!
