Valve revealed today that it will adopt bit coin payment at Steam with an e-mail to developers and publishers. In February of this year, it was a hot topic that Steam Translation Server (to localize games etc.) contained bit-coin related wording using BitPay Bitcoin settlement processor. This time Valve issued an official statement, the adoption of Bitcoin settlement by the company has become highly reliable. Steam users will be able to purchase games etc. in the near future, using bit coins.

"I am pleased to announce the introduction of bit coin payment! We are using an external bit coin payment provider so that our partners can reach a large number of customers.Bit coins are available online in some areas We are rapidly gaining popularity as a means of settlement of goods. We are introducing a mechanism to supply new value to customers and protect partners from the risk and volatility of bit coins. "

When users use bit coins for purchasing on Steam, they will pay bit coins for the rate presented by the settlement processor in local currency. Bit coins used for payment are instantly cashed through BitPay. And this is also important for some areas where Steam such as the Australian Dollar (AUD) does not accept the local currency. By swapping to a bit coin and then using it for Steam's payment you will be able to discount up to 25% of payments for these countries.
