Why I'm Excited About Status

I'm excited about one of the latest ICO's called Status.

According to their website, "Status is an open source messaging platform and mobile browser to interact with decentralized applications that run on the Ethereum Network."

Said another way, it's a gateway into the decentralized world. It's a mobile app used to access the ethereum network and all of the DApps (decentralized applications) that are being built on top of it.

I believe that, among other things, one of the bigger roadblocks to mainstream adoption of cryptocurrency is the ease of access to it. Even to invest in some coins is proving to be a bigger hassle than we'd like it to be.

Having said this, I think Status aims to make it easier than ever to use and take advantage of the blockchain (ethereum in particular) by providing us with a mobile app that is simple to use.

Status closed its crowd sale on June 20th, and it quickly hit the GateCoin exchange just over a week later. Though GateCoin does not officially support US residents trading on its platform, it has created exceptions with certain states and territories. These are:

-Illinois (fiat & crypto)
-Kansas (crypto-crypto only)
-Missouri (crypto-crypto only)
-New Jersey (crypto-crypto only)
-Texas (crypto-crypto only)
-Montana (fiat & crypto)
-New Mexico (fiat & crypto)

So if you're considering purchasing some Status tokens (SNT) and you live in the US, you'll have to be in one of these states or territories to do so.

Status is certainly a unique project that may have the potential to greatly accelerate mainstream adoption of cryptocurrency.
