The 'alpha' account uses 'blocktrades' as a voting proxy. Based on that and its status as an early mining account it appears plausible (though it certainly can't be established for a fact based on these observations) that it is owned by blocktrades.
Interesting. Maybe blocktrades is storing some trading profits within the Steemit ecosystem. If so, that's pretty cool. I also noticed @steemit1 was giving out STEEM back on June 23rd and 24th and @alpha was paid right when @blocktrades was paid as well:
That probably means @alpha isn't a steemit employee account.
