The Empire strikes back - the Americas not rolling over and playing dead so easily as the Linear Rewards spur activity and growth.

in #stats7 years ago

The wrestle between East and West for king of the hill continued this week.

It seems 19 forks, in the proverbial, was all the US needed to spur a little increased activity from the US.

Where Asia had passed the Americas late last week, they lost a little STEEM as bitcoin and many of the alts took a little breather on the markets.

As news spread of the great changes brought in by the upgrade to linear rewards and the positive results thereof, traffic surged in the Americas with a noticeable upswing that continues.

Outside interest also surged to all time highs, adding to the idea that these changes are very well received and creating interest even among non-steemians.

The interest was mainly from the US.

There are a couple of other interesting new entrants in the list:

Japan at number 9

Due to my bias I notice South Africa at 18 and Nigeria at 25.

Pakistan joins the party too.

When we switch to returning user we see the list shuffles quite a bit.

The US drops by 4% and South Korea goes up by 4%

Seoul and Busan are now the top two cities.

London was 3rd

New York $ L.A. have slipped to 4th and 5th respectively.

Medan (Indonesia) is next.

...and then three Australian cities... go OZ

So, all in all, steemit.com continues to surge onward and upward at a steady rate.

It's going to be interesting to see what happens in the coming weeks as the true effects of the Hard Fork begin to be felt more broadly and consistently and becomes more widely known.

Will we see an even steeper growth curve?

I think there are at least 2 or 3 positive feedback loops that are really just getting started. Hard Fork 19 changes the game. For those who haven't read, Hard Fork 20 looks to also be very interesting: https://steemit.com/steemit/@steemitblog/proposing-hardfork-0-20-0-velocity.

There's no doubt in my mind that Steemit will have over 1 million active users within a couple of years. Demographic is an unknown for me, but as long as there are users all across the world, it's bound to do very well.

This is a brilliant post.

Question: Where did you get these charts and stats from?

Go United States! Haha. Honestly it is nice to see the increase. It is also really nice to see the diversity of people that are visiting SteemIt and the amount of people they are be retained. It brings a lot of different views into the conversation here!

I think so! Probably more peopole know Steemit, more knew will come, it's exponential. Thanks for the informations

I guess that the US users have more expensive bills to pay so they didn't go full-time when the rewards were pretty low. This community is growing speedfast. Wonder how it will look like by the end of the year.

Are you economist @gavvet? What is the basic meet of this new Hard Fork for the people already in the system verses the growth of a new comers? Technology changes fraction of a second what about the upgrade?

More happy insiders means more word of mouth to outsiders...

And I'll bet a HUGE portion of them came from the Midwest! ;-)

The asian region up north is adapting seamlessly as to compared to the southern side of the region. I'm in Malaysia btw, and people here are really taking their time with the whole crypo world change. I just think asians generally are way too careful at everything and probably it would take a little more time for the whole of Asia to come around BUT do watch out for us! haha Nice breakdown right here. I like the way you word the updates. Keep up the handy writing. Cheers!

Hello my brother @gavvet, May I hope you are well and the whole family. Happy day . It is wonderful to see some of the functions from the continent of Africa to show in the results that is great
مرحبا اخى وصديقى كيف حالك امل ان تكون بخير
انت وجميع العائلة يوم سعيد لك اخى

Africa is so low on the chart maybe because i was out on vacation now I'm back and that throne is mine 😂. But seriously we need more Africans on steemit too we're the second biggest continent on the planet
