STATUS: A Private, Secure Communication (DAPPREVIEW)
INTRODUCTION
Firstly, with the advent of the likes of facebook,whatsapp and wechat.We have seen the power of social media and the power it holds in the world today.From media to politics to life and it's paraphelia,the world is turning from being a private one to a public one, one that cannot be hidden anymore.
Secondly, the more the blockchain grows the more knowledge we acquire about it.When we hear the word blockchain we know it's associated with crypto and definitely we will be needing a wallet.
With this said, countless of things are associated with wallet be it positive or negative.We have hackers and phishing links to make our wallet unsafe which is a big threat to our crypto life.Daily developers are continuously looking for ways and means to safe guard these wallets from harm.

WHY STATUS
All these chat medium all have something in common and it is called centralisation.They are also a closed source project which is only opened and known to the developers and investors.A centralised project is vulnerable because it is managed and controlled by a group of persons who can go behind the scene to sell personal data because of the autonomous power they hold.It is also open to corruption and coercion.
Then status was introduced and believed to be the solution to issues we have with messaging platforms.
WHAT IS STATUS
Status is an open source platform built on the Ethereum network as a means of messaging with a group of people by either way of a public or private chat.It was created to provide a p2p trading,communication among buyers and sellers and also to help facilitate payments over the internet and currently listed on thestateofthedapp list here.
Status was created by Carl Bennets and Jarrad Hope as the first decentralised messaging platform to reach the 3rd and west countries.It was built on the Ethereum network as a user friendly, convenient and very suitable dapp for the masses.
Status is providing a way for users to go about their online activities without leaving the Ethereum ecosystem.They are helping users to limit the way they spread their personal information/ data online by creating a hub to this effect.
Apart from being owned by status research & Dev Gmbh whose base is in Switzerland, it is also owned by contributors who has the token SNT.
With the emergence of dapps on the blockchain especially Ethereum network, status is providing users a platform that will enable users to interact with other dapps on the same Ethereum network.Status nodes are directly connected to the Ethereum network which makes it easier to interact with other dapps on the network.
Status is offering users complete authority and control over their data and opportunity to interact with other dapps.

Status has its own token called SNT(Status Network Token) which is used as the object of token on the dapp.This token is used to purchase services on the dapp like:
- Register your username on the network and for services like push notification.
- Enable you become a seller on the dapp.
- Access to vote in protocol decision making.
This token can be stored in any wallet supporting ERC-20 and Ethereum.
WHY I LIKE STATUS
- Apart from it being a social hub it also has a wallet where the users can save and store their crypto
- You can connect with users globally to exchange currencies and service with status
- Status does not rely on centralised servers.
- You can send payment and smart contracts within the hub
- The status messenger is enabled by peer-to-peer protocol
WHY I DO NOT LIKE STATUS
- It is solely for Ethereum network and all crypto related to it.
IN CONCLUSION
Status team are looking forward to provide a more decentralised movement that offers more efficient, secured web that provides social and economical benefits to users all over the world.I rate this dapp 4/5.
