What really came out your post to me is that you should be open, especially when building your personal brand in this digital age. On top of that, provide value.

I can definitely resonate with your point on “connect and be open with your contacts”. A lot of people expect new contacts to just throw opportunities our way, but if you flip that and start providing them value in your new relationship (not in a creepy way), you can form a great beneficial connection which will inevitably benefit you.
