A Quick Look to Star Trek Discovery

hello everyone.

i watched three episodes of star trek discovery and i wanted to share my feelings about i felt during i watch the new brand star trek.

actually it is a new brand regarding to its timeline in star trek series. discovery is in a timeline before the star trek next generation but somehow there are many different items that we did not see in the series that are in later timeline like deep space nine, next generation and voyager. let us have a quick look to differences of discovery series when it is compared to other series:

1- klingons are completely changed: there are skin color differences in the klingon race and there are hairless ones that the trekkies never experinced before. klingon philosophies are almost same but designes are completely changed. new design has marks from middle eastern cultures. especially first episode klingon costumes are inspirede from egypt cultures and some of turkic symbols. after a black vulcan in star trek voyager, we saw a black klingon and an albino one.

2- too many american cliches: i am really bored seeing cliches that show small rebellions to authority and target based person even with the cost of his/her personal life. i like self determinant persons but not hearing anyone else and taking risk to lose vessel and start a war? come on! this is just craziness. it is just like exploding a nuclear bomb to stop cold war.

it is not ended with war starting and continued with easily going out prison that normally should take many many of years. aleksandr soljentisin is one of the most intellingent writer i read and his first book i read was "gulag arcipelago". i wish some of american scenerio writers learn about the book and understand what is like to be a prisoner in a bad condition.

chasing by the alien dog was a bad copy from star wars worms and resident evil. i do not why scenario writes is so addicted to cliches.

3- technology: In the third eposide, we saw a quick transportation spore based on a biologic development. hey! did someone see a technology in the other series? exactly no! the closest thing was transwarp channels belong to "borg". the spore experiment may be failed and the experimenters will be assimilated by the borg after a successful experiment.

4- vulcan telepathy skills: we saw a telepathy communication can be done from far away distances even from the light year distances. stronger telepath race betazoids were not able to do it. somehow, a magic stick appeared and touched to the vulcans and now they are the strongest telepath in star trek universe for a short while cause we know that they are not that strong in the star trek voyager.

well. fouth episode is available but i did not have an oppurtunity to watch it. maybe later, i may post new quick looks but based on three eposide, it did not taste good but i hope they fix the issues and creates a new trend...
