Yeah not a huge fan of discovery either... The problem with prequels is that by default, they are locked out from a lot of the created content. For example, the Federation did not trully learn about Romulans before TOS era. That negates any Romulan-related storylines within a prequel because, otherwise, there would be some serious inconsistencies. And then you have prequel series creating their own "species" such as the Xindi (Enterprise) which are never seen or heard of from ever again.
