Stakeholding Decred – some past results along 2017 in the Brazilian stakepool

The Decred’s performance in 2017 show impressive figures: the prices rocket from $1.2 to $90 in Dec-31 achieving over 20.000% cumulative returns in the year. Far from speculative pumps, the coin’s value followed the road map improvements independently of overall markets adversities (Bitcoin forks, regulatory threatens and another crypto sensitive subjects).

Skiping all the tech details, the fact is: in an investor perspective, staking Decred was a very good deal along 2017.

The rewarding’s dynamics is a bit sophisticated at first sight, but it is just a matter of familiarity. Basically, the investor buy a ticket in a transparent and intuitive way through Decredition wallet. The ticket prices obeys a particular dynamics but it is enough to know that it varies.

After that, the ticket remains locked until to be raffled out or until the time expires (this limits is around 142 days). Numerically, the chance of a ticket being raffled until the expiration time is of 95%. Furthermore, in the lottery, the raffle chances obeys a Poisson distribution with mean = 28 days.
Given all details, to compute the staking accumulated returns is not straightforward task and should be done case by case. But it is yet possible to simulate the returns in an approximated way.

The following results was computed from a 500.000 simulations of staking Decred for 12 months in the Brazilian pool amid 2017. This simulations were done with assumptions that a holder bought your first ticket in 01-Jan-2017 and, after being choose or achieved the expiration time, he immediately bought another ticket by the current price in the Brazilian stake pool. Lets see the results.

Considering recurrent investments during all 2017 at the Brazilian stake pool, the mean investor achieved 30% accumulated returns. The luckiest one achieved 38% and the less fortunate accumulated 22% yearly returns! Adding up these results to returns from price spot prices shows Decred as the best investments in the cryptosphere in 2017!
