A little about staking

in #stake7 years ago

So 4 months into the crypto world, i believe staking is also an option of passive earning that many can explore.
Not everyone is able to do faucets/trading all the time. And its a risk free, tension free activity.
Keeps generating rewards on its own provided you have the minimum balance required for staking in that particular coin. Its different for every coin and if people like can add in comments the minimum required so the newcomers can benefit with that information.

Normally you mine with your computer and get coins as a reward. Thats how transactions are confirmed.
Thats called Proof of Work (PoW).

But there is also a System called Proof of Stake (PoS).
The transaction confirmations are not done with hardware but with already owned coins.
Depending upon the balance in your qt wallets, you get a certain percentage of your coins as a reward.
Of course, the balance requirement for some is very high.
But you can explore the option to join pools that are already staking and gain a few rewards for your small amount, till the time you can manage it with a balance of your own.
I will not suggest any pool / websites. Thats a personal choice and i am not advertising here for anyone in particular.

So keep a look out for POS coins like RDD, CLAMS, BLK, PPC, RAIN, POT, BRO.

There are also some currencies which give you the transaction currency employed as fee. Like NEO gives GAS and you dont even need to keep it running all day long. I just recently came to know of it so still collecting more info. BUT if you dealing in NEO, do know that decimal transactions arent allowed and happen only as long as they are within the exchange. when withdrawing to your wallet you do need to keep it in whole numbers. the decimals will be lost otherwise.

The benefit of staking is you can do it from a basic cpu and enjoy a steady source of more coins.

Interesting article! I tried to stake BLK myself for a while but I needed so much coins that I gave up. Maybe I will try again some day when I am rich.
I Think you need like 10k BLK to be able to stake everyday.

Yes, the best you can do is stake clams on just-dice.com. The stake balance is high and you get a percentage to your input. But its still very useful.

I will try to save some clams to start staking there :)
