Blogging is one of very thing that keeps my every day fun and snuffing the internet. Joining the steemit platform,i can say is one of my greatest discovery in life. It has help sharp my writing skills and adding move value to the already available virtual.

Social media platforms has been an avenue where i blog about my daily activities, challenges, events etc.

It all started on Thursday, after arriving at the local government secretariat for the normal CDs activities, Lo and behold the LI (local government inspector) orient every corps members about U-Report vanguard. What is U-Report all about?

U-report is a free SMS social monitoring tool for community participation, designed to address issues that the population cares about. SMS polls and alerts are sent out to U-reporters and real-time response information is collected. Results and ideas are shared back with the community. Issues polled include among others health, education, water, sanitation and hygiene, youth unemployment, HIV/AIDS, disease outbreaks; social welfare sectors. Data received can be disaggregated by age, gender, States, LGAs, Wards and settlements in real time. Registration is voluntary with SMS free to the users across all networks.

U-Report is an innovation based, a user-centered social monitoring tool based on simple Short Message Service (SMS) messages (poll questions, results, and sharing of useful information) designed to strengthen community-led development, citizen engagement and positive change.

U-Report relies on volunteer community members serving as U-Reporters on a free entry, free exit basis to provide information on issues in their communities. U-report allows citizens to speak-out on what is happening in their communities, provides a forum to amplify their voices through local and national media, sends alerts to key stakeholders about the issues their constituents are facing, and feeds back useful information to the U-reporters, so they are empowered to work for change and improvements in their localities themselves.

Yes, that what U-Report is all about in brief. Back then in camp, the U-UmReporters where on ground to sensitised the prospective Corps members on the importance of the program with everyone been enlisted.

Achievement,results and issues polled among others from health, education, water,youth unemployment,sanitation/hygiene are shared among enlisted members via SMS. Ideas and contributioj are also collected from members via SMS on major economy hazard which help in assisting them in carrying out their duty effectively. All reports on contributions, ideas and response are published year in the U-Report magazine.

Back to what happened on Thursday. All the whole corps members in my local government where divided into ten (10) groups with each been headed by a leader to supervise the exercise. We all storm the community with the awareness of the U-Report exercises by enlisting every community members. It was not an easy one though but it was fun doing it. We are on the move on registering at least 2,000 members within the period of two weeks, the hunt has started already. My group where about to register about 40+ successful members.
