Cold

It was mid April, mom and dad had decided to go on a short vacation to celebrate their twenty first wedding anniversary, so they had us dropped off at our grand ma's...
This would be the first time seeing where our grand ma lived, everytime we saw her (grandma), she had been the one who left her home to come visit us in ours... Our grand dad was late, died before any of us were born...
Saturday, our first morning at grand ma's... Grand ma and my sisters had left early to get groceries, I wasn't feeling too eager to follow so I stayed back by myself... This isn't the first time I stayed alone so I wasn't scared... Was on my bed chatting with my friends on facebook, when I heard something fall outside (somewhere in the house), feeling too lazy to stand up to go check if it was my grand ma and my sisters back from the super market, I just yelled from my bed "ARE YOU GUYS BACK ALREADY???" *No answer... I waited a little then when I heard nothing, I decided maybe it was the wind or something... It hadn't been two minutes since, and I heard another noise like water trickling, then it stopped... I yelled again "GRAND MA IS THAT YOU?!!" Again, no answer... Again I brushed it off as nothing, then I heard another sound only this time. It sounded closer... I looked toward my room door (which was wide open) but I saw nothing...
By now one would think I'd be concerned enough to go out and check what was going on or at the least, shut my room door, but I did none of the above, Just remained in my bed, surfing the net on my phone... I suddenly felt a little cold like the temperature dropped a little, then I started hearing crackling of some kind (you know that sound egg makes when it's breaking, something similar), it was faint but the house was quiet enough that I could hear it, that and it was really close, thinking it was an animal (maybe a rat feeding on something), I decided to yell to scare it off, I yelled and it stopped, waited a few seconds and confirming everywhere was quiet again, I put my concentration back on my phone... It wasn't even up to five seconds and it started again, I yelled again, and again it stopped only to start again, I got tired of yelling so I kept quiet and let it continue without my being bothered but I soon noticed that it was actually getting more audible which implies it was getting close and closer and the temperature seemed to get colder too, like they were concurrent...
Scared now (and cold), I turn and look at my door and I can swear that for a split second, I saw something huge standing at the entrance of my room, it was completely white and I couldn't make out any hands or legs but I saw it had something like a black hat on, no face (no eyes or mouth or anything)... I was startled but when i looked again and saw nothing I decided maybe it was my imagination or something that had to do with the reflection of light or something... By now the cracking or crackling sound whatever it was had stopped...

I decided to put on a robe and go outside and wait on my grand ma and my sisters to get back, putting on my robe and I started hearing some sort of scratching sound on my door (which was still open), I turn back to look towards my door thinking I'd see the white figure again but I didn't...

Now let's take a break and delve a little... I normally hear sounds when I'm home alone at my own family home, and I have this weird habit of jokingly saying out loud whenever I hear sounds "it's ok, you can come in, I like to make friends..." but normally, nothing ever happened and I just do it for fun (one side of me often hopes some being would actually come in and say hi, I'm insert name here let's be friends, I mean how cool would that be?!!)... Little did I know today would be different... Now let's get back to the story...

So, with a shaky voice and not very certain it was a good idea, I said out loud anyway, "it's ok if you wanna come in, you can come in, I like to make friends"... The scratching stopped, everywhere was silent, like utterly silent, it seemed even more quiet than before, like the birds stopped chirping and the neighbors stopped watching tv... Then I felt colder, really cold, scared as hell now, I get in my bed and squeeze myself in a corner, looking around my room trying to see if there was anything odd, then I felt something freezing on my arm, jerked back and looked at my arm and I saw nothing...

Very afraid now I made to bolt out of my room (cuz now I felt I wasn't alone), when my room door swung shut really fast and I ran straight into the door and broke my nose, I turned backing the door to face my room and see things start to pick themselves up and fly into the wall or anywhere that blocked them like some sort of poltergeists shit... I was hurt, bleeding and really afraid now then I said out loud " I'm sorry if I made you angry, it's just you scared me... Do you wanna talk? Do you wanna be friends? Would you calm down now please?"... Then it stopped (the poltergeist shit) and everywhere became quiet again... I tried looking around again to know if I could see whatever it was that was with me but I saw nothing, no shadow, no reflection, no nothing... It was quiet for at least a minute now and nothing was happening... I was still peering around my room trying to catch sight of anything that could explain what was happening in my room, then I finally saw something!!! It looked like a mist, from the ceiling all the way down to the floor, it wasn't like very visible, but I guess all that squinting paid off... I moved closer toward it to see, and maybe feel... As I got closer, I got colder, and it seemed to move backward too till it was backed against the wall...

I wanted to touch it but I was afraid my hand would get frozen or petrified or worse, so I picked up my hair brush which was on the floor now and I put it in the mist, making perfectly sure my hand didn't get In too, my hair brush actually got frozen and it moved down the brush to the handle from which I held it and I dropped the brush really quickly and jerked back in fear... Within a second or there in, like as fast as lightning, the door to my room swung open and the mist bolted straight out and it passed right through me!!!
I had never felt such coldness in my life, it was like I had no heart or something, I was perfectly still... I don't know what death feels like but I dare say it felt like death, like I died for how many seconds that thing had passed through me... I was petrified... I stood frozen for what felt like an hour before I got control of my mind and body again, I was scared and puzzled but the room was an utter mess... I left my room and ran outside just in case it decided to come back then I stayed in the drive way and waited for my grand ma and my sisters (who seemed to take forever) to come back...
They did eventually and all asked me what was wrong, why did I look blue (they were puZzled when they asked cuz I'm black, we are black so we can't be blue, but somehow they said they could swear I looked blue)... I knew they wouldn't believe me if I told 'em what happened and cuz I really didn't feel like telling them, I just smiled and told them the light must be messing up their vision... Together we all went into the house and got breakfast ready... We had just one more day to spend at my grand ma's and I made sure I never stayed alone again, even followed 'Em the next day to go get groceries...

I have some questions though, why did the mist stop moving backward when it was backed against the wall and why did it have to open the door to leave, since it could clearly pass through things (as it passed through me), why didn't it just pass through the wall or the door???
