Stach-dsw Contest Episode 10 --- "I Choose To Be Happy"

First, it was a naïve mistake
I was too trusting, believing and wouldn’t fake
Trust me she said, rash actions towards you, I wouldn’t take
Oh! What a snake
My heart she broke and left my body with aches

Oh I forgot, that wasn't my first heartbreak
Goodbye he said, I would be back soon were the words he spake
A day became a week and then it turned to a year, and now, never again
I grew up hurting, in pains with my love silently awake
And then she came, and a circle it remained

A spiral of hurt was all that was on my trail
Not wanting a repeat, not wanting to hurt, a bad boy I would turn
Walls taller than Jericho I built to protect my core
But like Jericho, they all came crashing down when you blew a kiss and crushed this wall
The past I forgot, and the future I dwelt on, love was in view again
Never would I let go, never again

Until you looked me in the eyes too and reminded me of the pains
Now I’m hurt, bleeding inside, as my heart feels the cut
Scars opened up, an evil trail, bad habits all calling my name
This was familiar to me, this pain could have been all I was known for
But there was something different, happiness just had to be at my heart's core

I could have been like other men, bitter and inhumane
But you had taught me love, never again would I be the same
So I choose to forgive, I choose to love you enough to let you go
I choose to honour the memories and I choose to dwell in them and stay strong
But most importantly, I choose to be happy!!!
