AGRICULTURE AND LIVELIHOOD

Agriculture can be expressed as the science, art, or practice of cultivating the soil, producing crops, and raising livestock and in varying degrees the preparation and marketing of the resulting products for better life living ( livelihood).

Man can not survive on this planet earth without satisfying the stomach to regain energy for body metabolism and daily activities to be carried on, In the quest of this man have to till the natural lands to cultivate cropsin other to produce food to satisfying the family, society , country and the world markets as a whole.

Mainly crop production is competed by weeds, and so clearing of the land is done for the crops to be planted.

After clearing and planting is done farmers then have to cultivate what ever crop they intend to make use of the land with for income and satisfaction for livelihood. Crops like maize is one of the wolrds sold food commodity which man can not live or do anything that concern food to be left out. Farmers who do animal production at the same time crop production such as maize help them reduce cost of feeding the animals especially poultry, goats and sheep.

Farming is not necessarily to have a big land before one can start farming, one can have the backyard way of farming to make food available for consumption. Farming is a great interest job to find oneself in which makes food available and creation of employment for people to be engaged in using their skills and energy into use to see work efficiency, input and output.
