SteemSports 2k Giveaway Submission
As a teen I was into basketball, I was part of a team and we even won silver on a national under 18s championship. That was the closest I got to playing anything competitively. I do think that playing any team sport is one of the best things a young person can do and I think we all know the things this can teach and instil into a young mind so I won't go into this.
Now... this post isn't about basketball and some might argue that what I'm writing about isn't even a sport.
I enjoy watching League of Legends championships. In case you didn't know LoL is one of the largest multiplayer online battle arena games in the world.

It's a team game, 2 teams each having 5 players battle eachother. Here you can see one of my favourites TSM battling their old rivals CLG.

Everyone who gets to the Championship stage is a professional, these guys train for 12 hours a day, have sponsors and some are stars in their own right like one of my favourite players ever, Dyrus who's retired now.
LoL attract tens of thousands of spectators at Championship events all across the world.

This is the closest I am at the moment to being a sports fan and I think LoL qualifies as such. I have my favourite teams and players, look forward watching old rivalries playing out and new comers blowing everyone's mind with unconventional tactics and new strategies.
I had League nights with people who aren't into esports and you should have seen them cheering at some of the more spectacular moves and how quickly they got into it.
In conclusion I think esports are sports, I wouldn't call the players athletes but the whole ecosystem around them makes it a sport, at least for me. What do you think guys? Do you agree or disagree with me on this one?
As for some feedback for you @steemsports, I think you guys are doing a great job and your growth is nothing short of spectacular. I would enjoy some esports content as well and I think it would also make sense for you guys as this market is exploding right now.

I feel the same way about Overwatch. With Overwatch League starting up soon it's going to take Overwatch exports to a whole new level here in the states. I write almost exclusively about Overwatch esports here on steemit.
I've never played it I'm afraid. I know it's huge and appreciated by loads of people.
I watched a few youtube videos and for me it has a very Quake like feel; which is great, I can see the appeal! I might watch a few championship matches and see how it goes!
