• Sri Lanka on 4 February celebrated the 70th Independence Day in a grand ceremony at Galle face green in Colombo.
• It was on this day in 1948 that country achuved freedom from British rule.
• Representing Britain's Queen, Prince Edward, Earl of wessex and the countess of wessex participated in the celebration as chief guest.
• the theme of the Year ceremony was one Nation.
• Independence day is a moment of pride for every country.
