Misdirected Money for Security

in #spying5 years ago

I know a fair number of people who support stronger border security. (I'm certainly not one of them!) They tend to support federal budgets being increased or changed in order to fund more border security agents, barriers and technology. What most people don't realize is that money isn't actually being used to keep you safe, it's being used to spy on you, average US citizens.

ICE now has a database that tracks the location of vehicles operated by 60% of the US population. They do this under the guise of border security, but then use millions to spy on most US citizens without a warrant. Ponder that for a moment- border security agents are tracking well over half of the US population. That's a terrible use of money that is intended to keep citizens secure. Even using this system to spy on immigrants is dubious at best since no warrants are obtained.

Totalitarian, communist and fascist governments spy on their people. This shouldn't be the case in the United States. This is another data showing we well on the way to being a police state.
