I think it was a smart move by SM/SP to add DEC to the mix of payouts. It gives another source of income for prizes and removes some of the strain on the available STEEM they have for prizes.
Exactly my thoughts. I like that thinking, it will just enable more people to freely decide what they can do with their earnings, while being more save if they decide to HODL :)
