Splinterlands Untamed | Lvl 5 Common MAGGOTS and KOBOLD BRUISER Evaluation

in #spt5 years ago (edited)

This time around we've got another two-fer from the Untamed Kickstarter drop. The MAGGOTS from the Death Splinter, and the KOBOLD BRUISER from the Fire Splinter.

First up, we've got 65 MAGGOTS! While that sounds like a medical condition, this 3-mana card looks like it will be a great addition to the deck. From out of the gate it has the 'opportunity' ability, like the SERPENTINE SPY from the Fire Splinter.

The similarities end there though, because at level 6 he gets the 'scavenger' ability, which rewards the card with 1 health any time another card dies (even a friendly card). Level 6 seems like a key upgrade level for most Untamed common cards. When we max him out, he has a respectable amount of damage, but he's still pretty slow with weak health.

When we combine my 65 cards together, we get 5 points on our way to level 6 and the scavenger ability. I might try to upgrade this card ASAP, since the opportunity ability is so useful.

Verdict: Keep and upgrade to level 6, sell the gold foil.

Next, we've got the KOBOLD BRUISER. While a 3 mana tank with no armor doesn't blow my hair back, it will come in very handy in low mana competitions

When we max him out, he does 4 damage and has a decent amount of health.

When we combine my 73 cards together, we get 13 points on our way to level 6 and the knockout ability. Though at this point, I'm in no hurry to throw any resources at this card.

Verdict: Keep and upgrade to level 6, sell the gold foil.

Sort:

These untamed cards are stronger than many of the Alpha and Beta or Rewards cards at base level, although not many changes with how I play which click to fill mana and finish the damn quest they have come in quite handy on some of the different rule sets. They won't replace a majority of alpha/beta but they should do well at replacing quite a few rewards cards.

I have yet to incorporate any into my teams yet, and I have yet to see any real strength from the competition using them.
