Manchester United would have to pay Mourinho £24 million

The Portuguese has finally been sacked as the speculations were and now the club would have to deal either paying a severance package of around £24 million pounds. The fee though could be £18 million as the Portuguese wasn't in champions league spot when the club sacked him.

There is the argument though that he was still in pole position too contest for champions league spot, fourth position before the January transfer window. That would have been unlikely too as Manchester United sits more than ten points away from top four.

Carrick has been appointed interim coach pending when a new temporary manager is appointed.
