ARGENTINA TERMINATES SAMPAOLI'S CONTRACT

The Argentine Football Association (AFA) declared that Jorge Sampaoli will no longer be the coach of the Argentina National Team after his woeful performance in the concluded World Cup.

An embarrassing 3-0 loss to the finalists Croatia in the group stage and the 1-1 draw with Iceland added to the early exit of the Argentines as they narrowly escaped to the round of 16 after a 2-1 victory against the Super Eagles of Nigeria in their third match.

The south American nation ran out of luck in the round of 16 against the ultimate World Cup winners as they were knocked out after a goal-filled 4-3 loss.

Sampaoli was assigned as the Argentina coach after his reputable performances with Universidad de Chile, Chile and Sevilla, as he left the Spanish club after the 2016/17 campaign having seen them to the UEFA Champions League.
