Liverpool Legend Sindir Chelsea Decision To Buy Head

Chelse made a tumultuous 2018 summer transfer market. The London club broke the record for the most expensive goalkeeper transfer in the world when it signed the Spanish goalkeeper, Kepa Arrizabalaga.

The Blues paid £ 71.6 million to make up for the Kepa release clause. Even the most expensive goalkeeper in the world surpassed Alisson Becker's record which was actually also made by Liverpool (66.8 million pounds) this summer.

Chelsea bought expensive Spanish young players after losing their flagship goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois who chose to withdraw to Real Madrid.

Chelsea's move to buy Kepa was as expensive as that of Liverpool goalkeeper Sander Westerveld. Although not surprised at the price of the current goalkeeper, Westerveld thinks Chelsea should try to recruit David De Gea from Manchester United.

"It's very good but for 80 million euros? I don't know if I will do it for him. He came from Bilbao, he has no international experience. I will first try to recruit De Gea but I don't know if it's possible for Chelsea." Westerveld said.

Although sneering at Chelsea's decision, Westerveld is overall proud of two expensive transfers for the goalkeeper in the summer of 2018.

"I have said many years before if the striker and goalkeeper were the most important players in the team. Not a midfielder or defender, prices and goalkeeper payments have been too cheap for years," Westerveld told NOS.
