Neymar's departure to Paris Saint-Germain made Barcelona more protective of his players. It manifests in a release clause with exorbitant values.

In the summer of 2017, PSG shook the transfer market by redeeming the release clause of Neymar from Barca. The price PSG must pay at that time reached 222 million euros (about Rp3.5 trillion), which makes Neymar the world's most expensive player.

After the departure of Neymar, Barca then bring Ousmane Dembele from Borussia Dortmund with a transfer value of 105 million euros. In the January bourse, Philippe Coutinho followed to Camp Nou after being redeemed for 120 million euros plus bonus.

In the contract of both players, there is a release clause with a value reaching 400 million euros (Rp6, 5 trillion). Mentioned by Marca, Barca did not want the case Neymar repeated.

The release clause with exorbitant value not only applies to new players. Barca also upgraded the release clause when renewing a player's contract.

Lionel Messi, for example, is fenced off with a release clause of 700 million euros (Rp11 trillion) when new contracts are enacted until 2021 in November 2017. In extending Gerard Pique and Sergi Roberto's contract in January 2018, Barca put a release clause of 500 million euros Rp8.1 trillion) for each player.

Not long ago, Samuel Umtiti's turn was fenced off by a high-end clause after extending his contract until 2023. The French international defender has a release clause of 500 million euros (Rp8.1 trillion).

The next player waiting for the new contract and its release clause is potentially raised is Sergio Busquets and Jordi Alba. To date, their respective release clauses are 200 million euros and 150 million euros.
