Roma announce Steven Nzonzi signing
AS Roma announced the signing of midfielder Steven Nzonzi last night. The club will pay an initial £27 million to Sevilla for the transfer of the French World Cup Winner.
Nzonzi was a part of the French squad that won the World Cup just a month ago. He was a crucial part of the Sevilla team as well for the last three seasons, where he won the Europa League in 2016. He has also briefly played in the Premier League with Blackburn Rovers and Stoke City.
Roma have spent considerably this window. In fact, they are now the third highest spenders in Europe this transfer window, only behind Italian Giants Juventus and Liverpool. They have improved their squad in a lot of areas, and I think this might just be the end of their transfer activities for the summer.
Meanwhile, news from England is that Arsenal are looking to offload midfielder Mohamed Elneny in order to free up the wage budget. Elneny, who recently signed a new contract at the club is at £55k a week along with out of favour Joel Campbell and David Ospina, and Arsenal want to free up that wage budget to bring in some new signings in January.
Very interesting. Serie A is improving.
Indeed. Juventus and Roma in particular in the last couple of years.
