Ex-Bayern Pro takes on coaching job in Austria

His tenures as player in the Bundesliga were not long-lasting. The Ex=Bayern pronow tries his luck in Austria.

The longtime Bundesliga professional, Valérien Ismael is the new head coach of the Austrian football league club, Linzer ASK. This was announced by the Upper Austrians on their website. The 43-year-old Frenchman succeeds Oliver Glasner (44), who becomes the new head coach of Bundesliga club, VfL Wolfsburg.

## Ismael takes on surprise team

As a center-back, Ismael played in Germany for Werder Bremen, Bayern Munich and Hannover 96. In his coaching career, the native of Alsace was, for 14 games at 1 FC Nuremberg and 17 games at VfL Wolfsburg, active. Most recently Ismael supervised the Greek first division relegated Apollon Smyrnis.

Under the leadership of Glasner, Linz made it to the Austrian Bundesliga in 2017. The past season finished the LASK as runner-up behind RB Salzburg.
