SPRINGROLE - Attestation Protocol on the Blockchain

Very soon, a college graduate (or any other person seeking employment) would go to a job interview without a résumé and it would be totally acceptable, because he didn't need it in the first place. All employers have to do is to look up his/her profile on the spring network.

The importance of a good professional profile cannot be over-emphasized. What is more important though is for the profile to be valid.
Employers are faced with the hassle of sifting through résumés that have been falsified each day.
The only thing the company or employer can do is to do background checks and verification to make sure that the information they have been presented with is correct.

The blockchain, as we may already know, has very interesting features that could offer a solution to job seekers and hirers. Features like immutability (tamper-proof), transparency, and scalability could be put to use in numerous aspects of our daily lives.

Spring foundation has used this ground breaking technology to build a protocol that allows people to have verified résumé s and recommendations. This will build trust when we come across online professional profiles and cut down the large amount of time and efforts put into verifying certificates and recommendations. Whether it's a previous job experience, educational background, history of past projects or skills possessed by a candidate, they all can be verified on the blockchain.
Instead of using the traditional methods of putting a call across to the universities or previous place of employment (as the case may be) the potential employer just quickly looks up the candidates profile on the spring network. That's some relief right?

SPRING ATTESTATION SYSTEM

Spring is a platform which will enable people to view, share and receive attestations on their professional profile which will eventually cut off tedious verification processes.
User’s professional profile will consist of:

• Educational qualifications
• Work experience and skill set each having their unique attestation flows when verified, then written on the blockchain
• Educational claims and employment history will be verified by the organizations involved.

How about a situation where for example, I list event managing as one of my skills, how would that be verified? Who will do the attestation for me since it's a skill?
Springrole addresses this challenge by using a crowdsourcing method where the user's reputation will be based on people in the skill network. So, if I organize an event for someone, the client would endorse me based on how good i was. Exciting isn't it?
This divides the facets of the springrole into two - Crowdsourcing reputation in a particular skill through endorsements and verification and validation of professional information through organisational attestations.

The Springrole Attestation Protocol Architecture and Verification Process

There are about 5 classes of attesters.
Person: All individuals can attest by endorsing members
Companies: Companies attest to employee work experience
Universities: Universities attest to members who have obtained degree course from them
Course providers: Attest that a member has completed their course
Examination provider: Third party service can offer exams and attest to member's result

Since verification is done by users, spring network allows only verified user's to make attestations.
When signing up, individuals will be graded into two levels.
Level 1: email verification and university/employer verification
Level2: KYC verification

While organizations have to sign up with identity providers and passes through DNS verification. Organizations will allow only authorized people to make endorsements.

Expected Challenges and Solutions

Since the network will rely on people to endorse each other, some measures have been put in place fraudsters who may wait to sign up and endorse each other.
Some of the measures include:

• Endorsements are not free, eliminating spam
• People who have gained higher reputation are rewarded
• If a user's score is at base level, then endorsement have very little value
• Scores are computed through skill members
• If an endorsement is rejected, then cost of endorsement increase and value of endorsement reduces
• A limit is placed on the number of pending endorsements one can make

The spring network will be on the lookout for any further fraud attempts and will ensure that the platform would remain fair and transparent.

The spring TOKEN

All transactions and payments that will be made on the spring network will be in spring tokens (SPRING). Users can also earn tokens by referring individuals and companies or by making validations (based on ratio of reputation), by completing profile and getting attestation or by working as a mediator in a free lancing project.
