The Earth Most Beautiful Glacier
welcome @springfield!!
because it's hot summer in December in Argentina!
So what am I suppose to do?
I gotta go to see some Glacier!!
You are Here
Way far from South Korea!
Are you snow white?
It is nothing hard to find dogs lying in the street
with doing completely nothing
in Latin America during the summer.
It is not dead..even though there is a suspicious apple!?
After three hours flight from Buenos Aires,
I arrived El calafate in region Patagonia.
Patagonia is a region encompassing the vast southernmost tip of South America,
shared by Argentina and Chile,
with the Andes Mountains as its dividing line.
What we are going to see is called
The Perito Moreno Glacier
This ice field is the world's third largest reserve of fresh water.
Due to its size and accessibility,
The Moreno Glacier is one of the major tourist attractions in southern Patagonia.
There You Are!!
So no we are in the Los Glaciares National Park.
It is my first time to see the glacier floated in the water.
Breathtaking!
Glacier in the summer in South America.
As you can see in the photo,
you can see the glacier right in front of your eyes.
This is what Moreno Glacier makes so unique.
It is way easier to access the glacier comparing with others
which you have to climb up the mountain to see close.
Plus, the glacier hasn't stopped moving toward to the lake.
What more?
Tada!!
Wow I made it!!
Well, it is a trekking tour on the ice ;-)
There are two standard tours called "mini-trekking" option,
consisting of a short walk of about an hour and a half,
and a "big ice" version, which is usually about four hours on the ice.
Tour company generally provides crampons to customers.
Expert bilingual mountain guides lead the group, looking after their safety.
There is only one tour company.

Feels I am on the Antarctica!
Do you wanna make a snowman♪
You can see some streams and crevasses while you're trekking.
It is more like following the guides, though ;-)
Now it's Lunch time!!
I eat Poguri (뽀글이)
I brought this instant noodle all the way from South Korea to have it here!
My cup noodle got a hole at the bottom so I picked this one.
Pour the hot water from the Thermos I packed this morning.
I've had 2500 instant noodles in my life
but never on the Glacier.
After cleaning up
now we are going down to the land along the ridge.
I'm so warmed up that it is hot, now.
What I did is Big Ice Trekking.
You walk around 7 hours total but it is not a hard one.
But this walk is aimed at fit people between 18 and 50 years
since we must never underestimate the nature
nor overestimate ourselves.
Now we are having a boat tour going back to the land.
or are we on Antarctica Cruise ship?
Whisky on the Rock
Yes, these are the ice cubes from the Moreno Glacier.
Now it is complete.
