Spotlight Voting Options Update
Spotlight is trying a new voting system.
Entries in future contests will have a score.
See an entry that should be in the Spotlight?
Comment "+1" to give it +1 Score
See an entry that doesn't measure up?
Comment "-1" to reduce the Score by 1.
Legacy: Comments that say "Vote" will still count as +1 Score.
New Rules
- Vote = +1 Score
- Comment "+1" to give +1 Score
- Comment "-1" to reduce the Score by 1
- Two votes maximum.
- Double voting on a single entry will only be counted once
- Users that vote more than two times will be removed.
- Votes that fall off the comment chain cannot be counted unless the voter provides context to which submission they are voting for.
Rules subject to change.
How to Vote:
1. Review the Top 3 Entries
2. Comment "+1" or "-1" in reply to the video depending on your experience!
We hope these changes are a step in the right direction, and if not we may return to the old system.

I love the idea
I can tell you authoritatively that this would be basterdized. I think @spotlight should have a quality guidline that would determine what makes a post qualify for votes... Most of enteries that get to the finals only get there not because of quality but how much the person can canverse for votes. This for me doesn't encourage quality. For example, why will someone sing along with a song and make that an entry? Who can't do a sing along and make that an entry? For me, that's not creative enough. The surprising thing is such person could win the contest, or even the one that cracked a virtually non communicative nor interesting joke. spotlight seems to be about just an entry inasmuch as you have the numbers to win on your side, no one cares if creative or not.
The truth is this voting pattern still doesn't stop the ones with just the numbers from getting things their way either they have quality or not. They have two voting slots and can easily vote for the candidate and do a -vote for the other.

What I am saying in essence is to have a team of unbiased judge that would make a selection of what they consider to be a quality entry. After this, let everyone then show their capacity to control numbers.

Well, thanks for TRYING but people can misuse it as well by asking others to downvote others. I think you guys should make some judges to atleast screen the entries. This is a good contest of yours, I really want some genuine and deserving participants to win. Hope to see a good way out of it now so that I can participate again.
People can do that, yes. They can also give two +1s or two -1s. The idea is that with more options people will be able to express themselves more in their vote and hopefully begin reviewing more than one entry.

This is nice but not the best, I think spotlight should introduce judges (like in America Got Talent) who can earnestly judge each contest based on performances and quality of each product from contestants, otherwise people may still play antagonism with this new method of down-scoring.
