RUSSIA!!! A team that shouldn't even be there, but shouldn't be underestimated. A RWC special...

Once again, like the USA, Russia are a nation that if they really wanted to, they would be a contender. They have the facilities, they have the "man" power(population), they breed their men big and strong, they even have a Welshman in charge....

Russia only qualified for this year's Rugby World Cup after the teams above them had points deducted, by fielding ineligible players. That's not saying they don't deserve to be at tge RWC. In fact, I have a feeling this current Russian side will win a few neutrals over with their style of attacking rugby.

CAN MOTHER RUSSIA DELIVER?

The short answer is NO! But then that does depend on what you mean by deliver....

Can they win the world Cup?? Ummmm!! Very unlikely, but stranger things have happened.

Can they play an entertaining style of rugby thats worth watching?? Ummmm!! Only time will tell, but they'll put their bodies on the line trying, I can guarantee you that.

Russia find themselves in pool A, and will find it almost impossible to progress beyond it. With two tier 1 nations Scotland and Ireland and this year's hosts Japan it will be a battle between Samoa and Russian for last spot. My gut says that Samoa will just be too physical and Russia will be going home with 5 heavy defeats.

With just 3 hours to go before the open g ceremony starts, I've got the day off work, plenty to drink, plenty to eat and am ready to watch a Japan Vs Russia in the first game, of what promises to be a great RWC.
