Questions for tipsters

A lot of us like to bet on various sport events, but did we ever ask ourselves why do we like it ? Is it just for money or is there something more we want to accomplish ? Would it be nice to forbid betting ? Would society be more healthy without it ?

Why some people bet

When I asked my father what would he do if one of his crazy parlay bets come correct and if he get that big money he answered this: "I will call 3 cabs, first will drive in front of me, I would be in second and third will drive after me. Then we will drive 400-500m to place where I made bet, then I will come out like some killer tipster to cash my winning. They will all watch me with widen eyes in fear and dread! They will say There he is, that big player who skinned us!". His dream was to close every nearby place which is accepting bets because of his big winnings. He told me multiple times I will first close this bet place, then that then that. They will see it is to dangerous to receive bets by big player. LoL Also he said once when I come to bet place they will all look at me and ask "Master what did you bet on ? Can I rewrite your bet please ? I would say no because of copyright law!" LoL Conclusion is that this is not just money, but something bigger like feeling more power and making other jealous on winnings and ultimate proof of football knowledge. It's also about respect in those tipster circles and way to escape reality.

One of his friends who was more in roulette and casino games, but also in football bet answered like this "Because winnings here are not to big in standard of western countries I see big winning here more like taking money for trip to Monte Carlo. Once when I make big win there I will fly to final destination which is city of Las Vegas to do some real play for some real money. There I will bet to roulette on number 29, I will of course win, I will bet again for everything I've got on 29 and I will win and I will put all I have to 29 again and when they ask me if I am crazy I will say to croupier "I just want to see your hands shaking" LoL After I win 29 tree times in a row I am going to become millionaire and legend! Your father would then say "I don't need to bet anymore because I have friend who is millionaire". We called him millionaire after recover from laughing after hearing that fantasy.

1.Why do you like to bet ? Is it all about money or is there something more ?

A lot of people playing for fun here write parlay bet where they push a lot of games like 10 or more dreaming about winning it. They would like to win fortune and not to invest almost anything. Rare of them had that kind of luck. Once they lose they can always say "I lost only 0.5 USD not a big deal and I had fun". There we come to second question which is:

2.What is the biggest odd you have ever won in one parlay bet ?

For me betting it is fun, excitement, power, football knowledge and money in that order. Excitement when I search for right games is similar like digging hoping to find out some gold. Excitement in waiting for games which stand like I want to end is similar like being in submarine waiting for dive bomb to explode. Also power aspect is present because I want to come there and say to rest of players "Who are you ? Who are you? I won that odd and what did you win ? Stand up for the champion! LoL :)" Winning on bet is also some kind of proof I know something about football. Then comes winning money which I would use for next playing until I reach ultimate goal which is sum of money like 40-50k Euro with which I can do things like paying old debts, redeem flat where I live, go to some exotic holiday and enjoy etc...

Real life story:

Once in 90ies my father made some big parlay bet with Scotish League Cup. It was Summer bet where he staked 50 unites and wanted to win 32000 of them with some half time full time games X-1,X-2 (2 games were like that with odd 4.5 and 5 full time win with odd around 2). I was upstairs watching changes on teletext on tv running down to kitchen screaming goal goal goal every time some of our clubs score. Near the end we missed only Greenock Morton which was 1:1 and 85th minute passed. Then somewhere near 89 I saw 2:1 flashing on teletext and run down screaming "goal goal goal Morton scored 2:1 we are winners!" He moved toward TV to check and in that moment we saw 2:2 flashing on tv. He turn toward me like in pain "Ouch! Amateur(me he reserved term Pro for him) go upstairs! Run away! Oh what a misfortune I can't believe!" He looked to tv in disbelief like someone has stolen 32000 from him. Then he went back to kitchen repeating "I can't believe". As soon as I went upstairs and watched on tv I saw 3:2 is flashing on teletext now. I run down again screaming "Goal goal goal 3:2 for Morton", he turn toward me saying "Don't make joke with me I am not in good mood. " I replied "Why don't you come to tv and see result ?" He somehow reluctantly came to see flashing 3:2 and said "It's real, now referee blow for end of game! What are you waiting for man?". Then we waited couple of minute for game to become red (signal that it is over). That was like waiting in submarine for diving bomb to see if it is going to explode and kill you or not. Fortunately soon game was red and celebration could start. It was win in range of 3 monthly wages. Then he made comedy of winning, collected win came home and throw all money to ceiling and let all of banknotes fall on floor and watched with joy how my grandmother and I collect them. I asked him "What are you doing are you crazy ?" LoL It was definitely not all about money. After that every time when he missed and wanted new bet when my grandmother protests like he is throwing money away, he would say "Do you remember how you collected money ?" LoL

He managed to repeat similar success 2-3 times more by catching some low league (like Finland) turnovers HT/FT 2-1 combined with some full time results in parlay bets. The biggest win was around 65,000 unites for 50 unites stake (odd 1300).

Advice:

I think key of his success was fact that he chose games with little known clubs which hardly anyone else play. When I saw some of his tickets I just hold my head with both hands like Del Piero when Juventus conceded goal from center. Not rare I asked him what league is that because I didn't know and I can't say I don't follow football, but I really not follow leagues like Poland 2, Finland 2 and 3 etc..

My best win

My best win in parlay bet was win on Italian Serie B clubs when I cached 15000 unites for 50 (odd around 300). That happen only once. Ticket was with 2 HT/FT 1-1 games and 5 pure full time win. I remember my favorite player at that time was Dino Fava from Triestina. He scored goal every time I bet on that club. I watched result change on RAI teletext too. I still remember excitement when page change and show my clubs and waiting for result to change in my favor. I saw rigore (penalty on Italian) and Fava scored and I said "Fava is rigorous from rigore" LoL.

If you are regular parlay tipster I would really like to know what is the biggest odd you have ever won ? If you can remember games I would like to see what they were.

Banning bets

In some countries like Albania some not to smart and short thinking people in charge decided to forbid betting. Now they have revolution there with big demonstrations in capital. Similar crazy suggestions man can hear here in Serbia too. That would be very wrong, because in countries with average wage of 300 E (if it is that high at all) forbidding betting would be like denying hope to people. Betting is also way for escaping grey every day reality in which majority of people are living. It is also cheep fun. We are here people who like folk songs and we already changed some parts from national folk song "What do you think ? What are you hoping for? " to "Who has not playing has nothing to hope". If some butt head in power bans it he will ban hope to people and will be probably overthrown soon no matter how often he shows in news on national TV.
