Philippine Dragon Boat Federation heads to Thailand for gold

The Filipino national, composed of soldier athletes in Pattaya, Thailand, will take part in the 14th International Dragon-Boat Federation world championships.

The competition runs from August 20 to 25. The Philippine Dragon Boat Federation (PDBF) team consists of 24 soldiers, 2 airmen, 5 civilian athletes.

Lt. Col. Harold M Cabunoc, team manager, finished with 5 gold medals won at the 2011 world championships in Florida.

A total of 3,400 athletes from 29 countries participated in the event which will be held at Mapprachan Reservoir, Bang Labang.

Besides the 5 golds in 2011, the Filipinos also took home 2 golds at the World Club Crews Dragon Boat Championships in Italy in 2014, and 4 golds in Australia in 2016.
