Pascal Angillis

That name won't ring a bell for a lot of people, but here in Belgium he is known as the coach of basketball club, Spirou Charleroi. A top team in Belgium, with several titles on their sheet.
This week he decided to stop immediately as headcoach of the club, because his 8 year old son was diagnosed with a brain tumor. He says he would always regret it if he stayed coaching and put his son second.

I can't agree more with him, this is a period your son needs you the most. You need to be there with him to help him cope physically and mentally. That is not possible with a time consuming job, at a European basketball club, that also plays international games. I find it a very brave decision by this man. And that is why I want to applaud it. Because team sports like basketball and football rarely are open for emotions outside of the game. Now he is pulling that taboo away, and admitting he can't do both with full attention. Good for Pascal, you're an example for the sport.

And of course I wish the best for young Sidy, I hope he can get well very soon, and beat this dreadfull disease!

Sincerely,

It must have be a tough decision to made by him to quit his job and to stand by his child. I wish the child quick recovery.

He says it was a no-brainer, you can not redo youth of your son!
