Hello friends of Steemit I hope you are excellent, in this post I will talk about an extreme sport called snowboarding.

Snowboarding is an extreme winter sport, in which a board is used to slide on a snow-covered slope. The basic equipment to practice it is the mentioned table, the fixings and the boots. He joined the program of the Winter Olympics in 2015.

The first evidences of this sport date back to the beginning of 1910, when people wanted to fix their feet to a plank of plywood using fishing ropes and reins of horses to be able to go down the slopes of the snowy mountains.

The snowboard began in 1965 when Sherman Poppen, an engineer from Muskegon, Michigan, invented a toy for his daughters by joining two skis and tying them to a rope with which to have control over the board. He called it "snurfer" - a fusion of two voices: 'snow' (snow) and surfing - and it was so popular that Sherman Poppen sold the license to a company, Brunswick Corporation, which managed to sell about a million snurfers during the next decade, more than half a million in 1966 alone.

In the early 1970s, Poppen organized snurfing competitions at the Michigan ski resort that attracted fans from all over the country. One of them was Tom Sims, a skateboard lover, who made a snowboard at school when he was in eighth grade in Haddonfield, New Jersey, back in 1960. His idea was to upholster the top of a piece of wood and fix an aluminum sheet at the bottom that, later, in the mid-1970s produced and commercialized. At the same time, Dimitrije Milovich, a surf enthusiast who used the trays of the university cafeteria to slide through the snow, built a snowboard called "Winterstick" inspired by conventional surfboards. Several articles on Winterstick tables in major magazines in the country helped publicize this young sport.

The first National Snowboard Race in the United States was held in 1982 at Suicide Six, Vermont. The first Mediotube World Championship was held in 1983, Soda Springs, California. The first World Cup was held in 1985 in Zürs, Austria.
