Why Xavi was the Biggest Lost for Barcelona

When you think about the glory times of FC Barcelona, the unnoticed hero there should be Xavi Hernandez for me. The maestro is one of the masterminds of Barcelona's attack. If you noticed, midfielders are the one responsible in maintaining balance in the field. They make sure areas aren't compressed and the area where it is possible to produce the best attack.
In the case of Xavi, he's an unsung hero for Barcelona. Most of Barca's glory are credited either to the coach (Pep, Enrique), strikers (Messi, Suarez, Neymar), goalkeepers (Valdes, Ter Stegen), defenders (Puyol, Pique) or even he's co-maestro Andres Iniesta.
He's a type of player who doesn't seek much attention. He's just playing his best and one of the reasons why Tiki-taka has been successful with Barcelona. You need a very talented midfielder there and Xavi is a rare gem.

When Xavi departed, I saw Barcelona falling. The likes of Ivan Rakitic can't handle the pressure in midfield. He has difficulty in communicating with aging Iniesta, who was also parted his ways for Barca. It has always been a look on the midfield that Barcelona is eyeing, because it's very difficult to find the kind of midfielder Barca was used to.
I believe his intentions for the club are clear - he wanted to help them win. He has been treated very well by Barca because in the first place everyone knows he loves the club more than his personal glory.

I would say that Xavi and Iniesta were actually what made the 2011 Version of Barcelona one of, if not the, greatest team to ever walk onto a football pitch. After all, they didn't need Messi to win the 2010 World Cup or the 2012 Euros. Messi is the best footballer but he never had those 2 with Argentina. Xavi and Iniesta for me, because this is a team sport, were actually the co-MVP's of Barca during the peak years. Not Messi or Pep as brilliant as they are. You're spot on that Barcelona suddenly became vulnerable when those two left. It's unfair to Rakitic or Arthur to even compare them. It's like comparing people to Messi or Ronaldo at the midfield position.
Yeah. I totally agree @roc75. I believe they were the foundation of Tiki-taka. Without them, it would be impossible to build Barcelona a giant.
