The Mets Are Now Playing Out A Disappointing SeasonsteemCreated with Sketch.

Some are split as to how view the Mets' 2019 season.

It is really simple. A team that takes the approach the front office did this offseason is considered "all in". When a team does that, anything short of the playoffs is considered a disappointment.

This was not a rebuild year. The organization was not looking for incremental changes. Brodie Van Wagonen's first move was to trade two highly rated Met prospects for a $100 million contract in Cano and Edwin Diaz.

A case could be made that if Diaz was 3/4 of the pitcher he was last year that the Mets would already have clinched a playoff spot. Even if that is the case, he was not hence the Mets are heading home for the Winter in 11 days.

A decent finish will put the team at 83-85 wins. At best, that is a mediocre record. When a team sets high expectations and the GM announces "Come and get us", a record like that is awful.

With another season almost in the books, it is safe to conclude this is one more disappointment in a long line of them.

Time for the Mets to start looking towards 2020.

I missed getting to reward this post but certainly wish I would have been here in time. I've really enjoyed your Mets coverage this season and at one point thought your Mets and my Reds might have something going for us a month or so ago. Unfortunately it looks like we'll both be spending the winter soaking our sorrows once again.
