The European Football Union has announced three candidates for the title of UEFA footballer of the year. Lionel Messi, Cristiano Ronaldo and Virgil van Dijk were in this group.
Argentinean from FC Barcelona became the best scorer of the Champions League and winner of the Golden Shoe. The Portuguese triumphed with the national team in the League of Nations. The Dutch won the Champions League with Liverpool, and with representation reached the League of Nations final.
The winner will be announced on August 29 during the Champions League group stage draw.
