It yet another awesome matchday of the ongoing Euro Qualifiers competition and so far, it has been a very exciting one. Matchday eight has been completed and as usual, there are a variety of outcomes. Like we have done so far before we delve into our fixture of focus, let’s take a quick moment to look at the results of the other fixtures that took place also.

Austria beat Slovenia 1-0,

Poland beat North Macedonia 2-0

From the results list we can see that only one draw and the rest ended in win/loss depending on the side you are :). Today, we will be taking a quick look at the Wales vs Croatia match which ended in a 1-1 draw. This was the major fixture as it was a big match between two very good footballing nations. Croatia still remains one of the top footballing nations in the world and their runner up medal in the last Fifa world cup shows how much qualities is in Croatian national team. On the other hand, Wales have showed glimpses of quality and they have pretty talented players in the squad, but the team hasn’t really progressed that much at the international stage.

The Wales vs Croatia match drew a lot of attention due to the caliber of the two nations involved. It was a difficult game for both nations although Croatia were the favorites to get the win on paper. Wales wore their preferred red jersey while Croatia on the other had preferred an all-black for the game.
The game looked like it was going to go in favor of Croatia when they took the early lead inside 6 minutes into the game, however, Wales had to cancel out the lead few seconds before the end of the first half. Both teams pretty much canceled each other out for most parts of the game and weren’t able to create that many chances as they had to settle with a 1-1 draw.

Not the greatest of games in terms of performance but it was a very good game by both teams. Both teams pretty much had similar shots in the game but Croatia as expected had more of the ball possession and passes.
The draw didn’t do any damage to Croatia as they still remain in number one position on the table. Two draws in a row for Wales as they find themselves in number 4 on the group table.
Nikola Vlasic and Gareth Bale were the goal scorers for Croatia and Wales respectively.
